I have volunteered with Pit Bull Rescue San Diego, StubbyDog and The Pet Rescue Center. I've always been an animal lover, and the more I learned about the plight of pit bulls, the more I wanted to help. True underdogs, pit bulls are currently the No. 1 type of dogs found (and euthanized) in shelters, the most abused type of dog and the most misunderstood. My pit bull mix Omega (who passed away in 2012) was a certified therapy dog, and I took her to nursing homes and foster homes to visit with the residents. We currently have three rescue dogs. As a public relations volunteer for PBRSD, my efforts resulted in a number of articles and TV appearances spotlighting the rescue's excellent work and also helping to educate the public about pit bulls.
