Welcome to the website for Micaela Myers — a simple site to share my writing. I've been a writer since before I could write. When I was a little kid, I'd wake my mom up in the middle of the night saying, "Hurry, I've got a poem!" (I know it sounds a bit corny, but it's true.) After completing my BA in literature and writing, I earned my MFA in writing from Vermont College. You can read some of my published fiction using the links below. My story "A Cow in the Living Room" won the River Oak Review's 2001 fiction prize, and my micro fiction "Baby Doll" was honored in Binnacle's 2008 Ultra-Short Competition. I'm currently the editor of Laguna Beach Magazine (winner of the 2010 Maggie award for Best City Magazine) and Bespoke Magazine. I'm also a horsey girl and write occasionally for Horse Illustrated. I've written three equestrian books as well: "The Horse Illustrated Guide to Trail Riding" and "Trailering" (BowTie Press), and "Knack Leg and Hoofcare for Horses" (Globe Pequot Press). I love to travel. So far I've made it to 13 countries, in addition to living in the eastern Caribbean for a year. A few of my travel articles are uploaded here. I have two adopted dogs, and in my spare time I volunteer with StubbyDog. Click here to learn more. Enjoy the site, and thanks for stopping by. |
